Wake Up Call

It has been a long time since I have blogged! I guess I could use the excuse that things have been really chaotic?!

Enough excuses! So, I just finished reading The Harbinger: The Ancient Mystery That Holds the Secret of America’s Future by Jonathan Cahn and I wanted to share some thoughts. I think there is a lot of controversy surrounding this book and what Cahn is proclaiming but whether the story is “real” like he says or if its mostly fiction matters not; the premise is dead on.

Cahn tells the story in a narrative form and basically ties a passage of scripture in Isaiah 9:10 and the events of September 11 together to show how America is headed down the same road of judgement that Israel went down. It is not my intention to really do a book review here or to even persuade you to read the book. However, I do think it’s an interesting read.  The book really just got me thinking about where we really are headed as a nation.

We were founded on principles of putting God first and over time have moved further and further away from that ideology. We have become a narcissistic people with entitlement attitudes.  The truth is, it’s not about me or what I want or what I think I need. It is about Him!   As we have become so self involved we have forgotten our roots and what we were founded on. We have decided that we are big enough, smart enough and wealthy enough to live without Him. Maybe we do need a wake up call?
Revelation 2:5 says:

Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

We have to return to where we started with our hands and our hearts pointed towards God.  The United States has always been a blessed and protected nation, but that is not a promise. It does not have to stay that way. And you know what? It starts with me. It starts with you. It starts with the church. We are the mouthpiece. Be a willing vessel. Spread the Gospel. Focus on Him! Put how you feel aside and worship the Creator.  If you are a Christian and you don’t go anywhere to church, find somewhere. Be committed. If you don’t know Jesus, let me encourage you to open your heart and you also find a church that teaches about Jesus and holds to His truths. He will be your best friend. I feel like that this went in a different direction then maybe what I had in mind in beginning but that’s okay. I do not want to ramble, so I will leave you with this song that just popped into my head.
