How is it that when things are good we tend to give God the credit, but when things go bad we tend to gripe and complain and ask why? Is God not good all the time? Through the last several months I have come to the realization with lots of experience that YES, He is good ALL the time. But does everyone get this? I was reading a post on Facebook today where a friend of mine had a tornado right outside of her house and she got down and prayed and the tornado blew right over and she and her house were unharmed. People started commenting on this post and saying how good God is and thank Jesus she was safe. But what if she had died? Would they still be saying how good God is?
No matter what happens to us in life, good or bad, God is with us and He is always good. He has a never ending love and faithfulness for us as long as we follow Him and do His will. “The Lord is righteous in all his ways and faithful in all he does. The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. The Lord watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will distroy. My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord. Let every creature praise his holy name for ever and ever”(Psalm 145:17-21).
I always think of this quote and have felt this way from the moment life turned upside down to the point I am at now, feeling even more awake and closer to God. “Nothing here on earth is guaranteed. If I lost everything, I’d be okay because no one can take away my Jesus. Whether I live in a mansion on a hill or a shack in the swamp, I have my Jesus. Whether the world is for me or against me, I have my Jesus. When I am knocked down, I get on my knees and find my Jesus”
I feel like over the last year God has been opening my eyes and tearing down all my idols so that He and only He is who I worship and adore. I put people and things in His place for far to long and He had to take the things I dearly loved away for me to wake up and realize that He is God and He is more important than any person or anything that life has to offer, HE IS LIFE, and without Him I am nothing.
