Texas Sheet Cake

I love this cake and thought you all might like it too. I will warn you in advance that there is nothing healthy in this one, people; it’s the real thing! I look forward to your thoughts after you make it.

Texas Sheet Cake

  • 2 Cups Flour
  • 2 Cups Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs

Pre-heat over to 400 degrees. Grease and flour jelly roll pan. Sift flour into a large bowl. Add sugar, salt and baking soda. Stir together. In a sauce pan bring butter, water and cocoa to a boil. Add the hot liquid to dry ingredients. Add the buttermilk then vanilla, then one egg at a time, stirring after each addition. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 20 minutes or until done. Frost while cake is still warm.

Chocolate Icing:

  • 1/2 Cup butter
  • 6 TBLS buttermilk
  • 4 TBLS cocoa
  • 1 box (4 cups) powder sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Bring butter, buttermilk and cocoa to a boil; cook for 2 minutes. Add sugar and vanilla. Beat until smooth with mixer.
